LIFTING FEET ALONG YOUR WAY

Using the colours created from the N4 road, Kari created this work in response to the journey taken through the landscape. Colours are poured onto the canvas in layers creating organic shapes highlighting the accumulated history of the landscape. The natural colours of daisy, dandelion, nettle, and peat are being intersected by the man-made iron, copper, and bitumen, echoing the relationship between nature and humans.

This work showcases 9 colours produced from natural and man-made materials collected by the artist while walking the new N4 road. The materials were processed into botanical ink and earth pigment in the studio using a variety of methods such as boiling, extracting, and grinding.
